Westmeath Longford Retired Nurses Association
Annual Conference of Retired Nurses Association of Ireland
The Westmeath Longford branch of the Retired Nurses Association (RNA) continued their year’s activities with the attendance of branch members at the 25th Annual Conference of the RNA. It was hosted by the Sligo Leitrim branch in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sligo in September.
A new executive committee of the RNA of Ireland was elected at the conference and the chain of office of the president was handed over by the outgoing president to the incoming one.
A number of motions were proposed and adopted at the conference, for further representation by the executive committee at national level. If successful, these proposals would benefit all retired nurses.
Two informative talks were given at the conference. One was on dyslexia given by a related specialist, and the other was on ‘Living Life to the Full’ presented by a chartered psychologist. These were most interesting with many leads to further information for any wishing to know more about these two hugely life impacting areas.
Westmeath Longford branch members extend their congratulations to the incoming executive committee of the RNA on their election and wish them all the best in their roles. We extend our thanks to the Sligo Leitrim Branch of the RNA for hosting the conference. It was no mean feat with more than 200 delegates in attendance from branches throughout Ireland and it has to be said that they did an excellent job.
