Huge support for agri show quiz

The committee for the Mullingar Agricultural Show have extended their sincere thanks to all who supported a recent table quiz in the Annebrook Hotel.

The quiz, which is one of several organised throughout the year to raise funds for the maintenance and upkeep of the show grounds, as well as the running of the show itself, saw an excellent turnout.

“It went very well, we had 26-plus tables at €40 per table, so it was a great turnout and we’re very thankful for the support we got from different societies around the town,” said Paddy Donnelly, who sits on the committee.

“It’s great to see something like this being supported. We depend a lot on the table quizzes for fundraising – we run a few of them throughout the year and it goes towards the upkeep of the grounds to keep them looking well.”

It costs about €90,000 to run the Mullingar Agricultural Show for one day each year and so there’s a lot of fundraising to be done to make sure it runs to a high standard.

“We raised more than €1,000 with 26 tables at the quiz and then we ran a raffle as well. It’s great to run a number of quizzes to help with the development,” said Paddy.

“We just want to thank the Annebrook House Hotel for the support and for the finger food on the night and thanks also to the people who gave spot prizes.”
