Mark Irwin leads charity concert for Cluain Lir

A spectacular concert took place at Mullingar Arts centre on Friday November 22 when renowned singer Mark Irwin from Mullingar and Scottish native Lauren Allan gave a captivating performance to a lively audience.

The night turned into a perfect experience of melodies for staff and residents of Cluain Lir (St Mary’s care centre Mullingar). The event was organised by Tony Irwin and activity coordinators Karina Browne and Ruth O’Donoghue as part of a fundraising charity event in support of Cluain Lir.

The packed audience sang and danced along with the rhythm of the music. The joy and excitement were evident through their applause, moves and participation.

The concert kicked off with an awesome performance by Sweet Tunes Choir. Their melodious voices and elegant attire brightened the stage. Mark Irwin, a highly talented artist is well known for his exceptional performances both home and abroad. His recent concert in London entertained many. Mark’s performance included both Hollywood and stage favourites.

Throughout the show, both Mark and Lauren (who he met through his singing career) kept the audience engaged and connected. Lauren’s energetic songs, expressive and vibrant singing along with light effects brought the stage to life from start to finish. Nathan Daly, a talented young musician from Mullingar, also joined the show. Together with Mark he gracefully sang ‘The Rhythm of Life’, which touched everyone’s hearts.

Another remarkable performance came from Laura Irwin. Her voice and songs were unique.

The members of the Orchestra also received well deserved appreciation for their outstanding contribution.

Following the concert, the crowd got a chance to meet with the musicians, adding a memorable touch to the night. The event was a delightful social occasion featuring refreshments. Something else special about this event was that Mullingar Arts Centre had wonderful seasonal decorations adorning the walls, offering a visual treat to all attendees.

The staff and residents of Cluain Lir expressed heartfelt gratitude to the musicians, staff at the arts centre and audience members, for making the event successful.

Karina, speaking on behalf of the team, shared her appreciation: “Thanks to everyone who supported this event, making it successful and memorable and this support will allow us to continue organising activities for our residents, including art sessions, outings, knitting clubs, and gardening in summer.

“A special thanks to Mary Gorry and Karen Malone for conducting a raffle draw, and we thank Lucy Tormey for providing art lessons for our residents, which help to increase their creativity.”
