Moate to face St Loman's in U20 football decider
Moate All Whites are preparing to take on St Loman's, Mullingar in the Westmeath U-20 Division 1 Football Championship final tomorrow evening (Saturday). Kinnegad is the venue for the final, throw-in 6pm, and extra-time will be played in the event of a draw.
Moate overcame Tubberclair by 1-16 to 2-10 in their semi-final at Páirc Chiaráin last month, with Hagan Niall scoring the All Whites' goal and Tobby Conteh contributing eight points.
Moate will be looking for big displays from the likes of Daragh Lowry, Aodhan Curran, Conteh and Ronan Murray. Incidentally, Curran was on the UCD team which recently won the Freshers Football League Division 1 final against University of Limerick.
Some players who are part of the Moate CS team which has reached the Leinster Schools SF 'A' quarter-finals are set to feature for the All Whites, such as Cian Whitney, Hagan Niall, Darragh Madden and James Mitchell
For their part, St Loman's claimed a comprehensive 4-14 to 0-4 victory over Tyrrellspass in their semi-final at Home Instead Lakepoint Park last Friday night.
Jack McCann, Seán Plunkett, Oisín O’Hara and Seán Plunkett supplied the goals in a dominant victory for the Mullingar side.
In a year which saw St Loman's retain their senior football crown, they will be eyeing up more silverware, but Moate will also be determined to secure the Division 1 title at this age group.
