Christmas Q&A: Yvonne Heavey, author
Favourite Christmas film/song?
Indiana Jones has so much nostalgia for me, blending adventure with Spielberg’s cinematic magic. As for songs, I’m soaring with Walking in the Air, but when it’s time to let loose, nothing beats The Pogues for cranking up the holiday cheer!
What are you doing on Christmas Day?
I’ll be jetting off to Ireland. Maybe I’ll swap my usual sea swim for a brisk lake dip, just to keep things fresh!
Favourite part of Christmas Dinner? Do you help cook?
Stuffing myself with stuffing and indulging in the controversial Christmas pudding! I’m all about that boozy dried fruit goodness that everyone else loves to hate. I’m the cleanup and setup maestro — a vital role.
What’s your best Christmas memory?
Getting a pair of walkie-talkies, and letting my friend take one 200 yards away so we could chat all night. Who needs sleep when you’ve got cutting-edge technology at your fingertips?
What’s the strangest Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
A red denim jacket that squeezed my arms like they were in a festive straightjacket. Fashionably perplexing!
Are you an organised shopper or a last minute gift buyer on Christmas Eve?
A delightful mix of both — strategically chaotic, if you will.
Are you planning on making a new year resolution?
Resolutions? Every day is a chance to resolve (or, you know, just wing it).
