Busy time for coaching workshops in Westmeath

Westmeath GAA Coaching and Games notes

Westmeath Coaching and Games have a series of coaching workshops happening in the coming weeks. Due to weather constraints, the scheduled first workshop with Barry Mullane due for last weekend had to be deferred until February, with tickets bought for it still eligible.

This coming Friday, former Corofin manager Kevin Johnson will kick off the workshops in Maryland GAA with a session on Decision-Making through Game-Based Scenarios. The Westmeath U16 footballers will be on hand to help dis play the practical elements of the session.

Friday 17th January – Kevin Johnson (Former Corofin, Tourlestrane and Ballintubber Senior Football Manager)

Topic: Developing Decision - Making Through Game - Based Scenarios

Venue: Maryland GAA, 7:00 - 8:30

Friday 24th January – Johnny Greville (Current Meath Senior Hurling Manager)

Topic: Innovative Training Techniques for Modern Teams - A Wall Ball Session

Venue: Delvin GAA, 7:00 - 8:30

Saturday 1st February – Jack Cooney (Former Westmeath Senior Football Manager and Current National Player Development Lead)

Topic: Fostering Leadership & Resilience in Players

Venue: St. Lomans GAA, 2:00 - 3:30

Saturday 22nd February – Barry Mullane (Current Down Senior Hurling Coach)

Topic: Practical Approaches to Skill Development in Team Sports

Venue: Raharney GAA, 10:00 - 1:30

Coach Education

Westmeath Coaching and Games will run a series of coach education course across February, March and April. All information on Introduction to Gaelic Games Courses (IGGC) and Level 1 Courses have been circulated to club coaching officers so any interested parties are asked to contact their coaching officer on this.
