Fallen trees are among the potential impacts of Storm Éowyn

Orange warning issued for Friday

An orange warning for wind has been issued for the entire country for Friday.

Met Éireann said Storm Éowyn would see gale force southerly winds becoming westerly bringing severe, damaging and destructive winds. Gusts of up to 130km/h are expected across the country, with even higher gusts for a time.

It is warning of the potential for fallen trees, damage to power lines and power outages, structural damage, very difficult travelling conditions, disruption and cancellations to transport and wave overtopping

The warning issued this morning comes into effect at 2am on Friday, and expires at 5pm the same day.
