Gardai probe Athlone disturbance

Gardai in Athlone are investigating a violent disturbance on the streets of the town on Sunday night.

Several individuals are understood to have been involved in the incident in the Mardyke Street area at around 9pm.

Gardai say they are following a definite line of enquiry into the scenes, in which males wielding bats, chairs and other implements were involved.
