‘Busy but fun’ as Milltownpass students grace arts centre stage

Milltownpass NS wowed their audience at Mullingar Arts Centre on January 22 with a lively, engaging and entertaining rendition of ‘Braveheart of the Wild’. As an initiative of Seán Lynch, director at the arts centre, schools are invited to participate in a professionally led production.

Deputy principal Emer Bermingham said all at her school were delighted to get this opportunity. It was their third time to work on a production with Mullingar Arts Centre.

“Huge thanks to our tutors Marie and Clelia, who visited us for two hours each week since September putting us through our paces. Thanks to teachers and SNAs who, worked tirelessly rehearsing lines, dances and scenes with the children.

“I loved to see how children worked to support each other during rehearsals and especially on the day itself. Getting up on stage can be daunting but the children embraced the occasion and the sense of responsibility, independence and teamwork that goes with putting on a show. I saw some real sparks of theatrical and musical talent shine through on stage.”

Quotes from the children: Sam: “I loved it.” Kenzie: “I liked how we could go behind the scenes and just hang out before the show.”

Kate: “I liked how it was really fun and the props and the costumes.”

Christina: “I liked the vulture costumes.”

Anna: “It was a great opportunity for those who want to get into the arts but weren’t too sure.”

Alan: “Busy but fun.”

M Bermingham added: “It was nice for the children to see the other side of a production.”
