Council to invite expressions of interest for arts centre chair role
Mullingar Arts Centre is in need of a chairperson – and members of the public interested in taking on the role are to have the chance to register their interest.
Chief executive Barry Kehoe told members of Westmeath County Council at their January meeting that the council intend publishing an Expressions of Interest document, and inviting members of the public to respond to that.
He said that the executive will be reverting to the elected members with detail of the process they will follow in seeking to fill the role.
“We’re requesting that people submit letters outlining their experience and their interest in the position and giving us any other information that might be useful to an adjudication committee that will be established to look at the expressions of interest,” Mr Kehoe stated.
The hope is, he said, that the process of selecting a chairperson will be complete within the coming two months.
Cllr Mick Dollard stressed that the position, aimed at people interested in the area of the arts, is a voluntary one, and he proposed that the council write to the retiring chairperson, John McGrath, to thank him for his contribution.
