Full houses at each show in 32nd year

Brownstown Drama group promised that their audiences a showstopper they couldn’t miss and that they would dance the night away last weekend.

That’s what happened and the show was sold out on Friday and Saturday nights, February 15 and 16, and again for the matinee performance on the Sunday.

This was their 32nd year of the show, and their new producer, Mairead O’Rourke, and co-producer, Paula Cox – who is also the choreographer – did a fantastic job.

The longevity of the show and its important role locally are evident in the fact that Mairead and Paula both performed in it when they were younger.

There were 60 children and 30 adults in the cast this year, and the show was a mix of singing, dancing and comedy sketches.

A member of the organising committee said: “In the local community, we’re very appreciative of all the support and the sponsors who have helped us out.

“It’s great to see a local drama being so well supported. We had full houses for the three days, it’s absolutely fantastic.”
