Westmeath IKA branch supporting key campaign

In celebration of World Kidney Day 2025, the Irish Kidney Association (IKA), the registered charity which supports thousands of kidney patients and their families across the country, is launching a national fundraising drive alongside its ‘1 in 10 People’ kidney health awareness campaign.

This initiative will focus on Saturday March 8, when volunteers from the charity’s 25 branches will be collecting in Aldi stores in their communities. Campaign activities will continue through to World Kidney Day on Thursday March 13.

Killucan man Eddie Flood is chairman of the Irish Kidney Association nationally and he is appealing for support for Saturday’s event. The Westmeath Branch is looking for volunteers to assist with the campaign.

“It is an important event for the association and we rely on volunteers and the support of the public to continue our work,” he said. Eddie is a transplant recipient and is acutely aware of the important role the charity plays.

For anyone who can volunteer to help, they can contact Eddie on 087 9665750.

The IKA is calling on individuals, families, businesses and organisations across the country to help make a difference in the lives of people living with, and affected by kidney disease and support it in its provision of vital services to kidney patients and their families.

Every donation, big or small, will contribute to improving the lives of kidney patients in Ireland.
