Burke welcomes €750,000 funding for Westmeath community centres
Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, TD, has welcomed the allocation of almost €750,000 in funding to community centres across Westmeath under the Community Centres Investment Fund.
He said: “Community centres are at the heart of rural life, providing a space for social, cultural, and sporting activities.
“They serve as gathering points for young and old alike, helping to combat isolation, foster community spirit, and provide essential services.
“I am delighted to see almost €750,000 in funding awarded to Westmeath projects, which will go a long way in enhancing these vital facilities.
“This investment will help local groups carry out essential works such as roof repairs, kitchen upgrades, improved accessibility, and energy efficiency improvements.
“The upgrades will ensure our community centres remain fit for purpose and continue to serve the people of Westmeath for years to come.
“This is another example of government investment directly benefiting local communities, and I want to thank the volunteers and committees who work tirelessly to maintain and improve these centres.”
