Streete Cars and Coffee honours Anne
The cars and coffee event in Streete enjoyed great weather and a great atmosphere on Sunday week last, March 9.
The first such event at the Parish Park was last year, and it looks like the Streete community has another popular annual event on the calendar. The 2024 cars and coffee, organised by members of Streete Vintage Club, raised funds to replace the ageing defibrillator at the community centre, and also benefited the Irish Road Victims Association.
The idea originated from club members, Thomas Parker and Eamonn Campbell, who were aware of similar events across the country; they decided to take a chance and introduce the event to Streete. The event raised €2,500 last year.
This year the community gathered again under sunny skies and the turnout was as impressive as the weather. Among the scores of vehicles on display were classic and vintage cars, modern day supercars and a good selection of what are known in the UK as unexceptional cars (there is an event called the ‘Festival of The Unexceptional’) – the everyday cars that have aged well and which people have fond memories of.
This year’s event also remembered and honoured Anne Creamer, who worked in the Streete Parish Park office for more than 20 years. Sadly, Anne tragically passed away at the end of 2024.
The event was a testament to the strength and generosity of the community, coming together to remember Anne and support a meaningful cause.
