The Cut at Lough Lene.

Angling for facilities at lake

An international fly-fishing competition for ladies is set to take place at Lough Lene on May 22 – but since there are no toilets there, Cllr Andrew Duncan requested at the March meeting of the Municipal District that six portable toilets be provided.

“It’s quite a big event; it’s going to draw a fairly substantial crowd into the area and will also add significantly to revenues around it because they will be staying for up to a week,” said Cllr Duncan, adding that there are four international teams participating, and they will bring quite a bit of revenue into the area.

The response provided to Cllr Duncan by the executive stated that the organisers of the event should make contact with the Municipal District office.
