Midlands Think Tank event aimed at helping SME sector revitalise
A two-day conference billed as the Midlands Think Tank is to take place at the Mullingar Park Hotel on November 13 and 14.
Behind the event is the new Mullingar firm, Mid@s Technologies, which is based at Clonmore Business & Technology Park. It also has the support of the Midlands Gateway Chamber and Mullingar Chamer of Commerce as well as of ISME.
The event is to be chaired by economist, writer and Newstalk presenter, Marc Coleman.
“The emphasis of the event is promotion of the midlands as a destination for business and we are using the occasion to formally launch Mid@s Technologies as an IT services provider,” says Niall Hearn, director of Mid@s Technologies.
“We’ve lined up an exciting array of speakers and we will have some lively debates chaired by Marc on topics relevant to doing business in modern Ireland.”
The event is to focus on ways in which the SME sector can better use modern technology and best practice management techniques to up its game.
“There will be specific emphasis on optimising the use of cloud services, mobility solutions, big data and social media strategies,” explains Mr Hearn.
Excellent credit control represents the cheapest form of funding for business, attendees will hear, and with that will come advice on strategies for moving their business to the cloud, integrating eCommerce with credit risk management and enterprise resource planning methods.
There will also be advice on how to use data analytics to gain new customer insights; how to use Voice Over Internet Protocols (VOIP), to “reinvent” communications; how to work on developing global markets.
Other topics of interest will include discussion on leadership and culture through difficult times, managing companies’ social strategies and social customer service; delivering Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) compliance via the cloud; using creative thinking and brainstorming techniques, and using workplace collaboration to optimise business and drive efficiency.
The day will also feature an exhibition area, enabling companies to display and market their products and services.
“This is to be the launch pad for innovation and development,” says Mr Hearn.
