Hilmar sold at Dublin auction
The Hilmar Hotel was one of the star perfomers at yesterday's Allsop auction in Dublin going for more than double its reserve price.
The landmark Kinnegad hotel, which cost an estimated €10m to build, was purcashed for €695,000 by an as of yet unidentified buyer at the auction in the RDS yesterday, Tuesday October 15.
The property, which closed its doors on September 25, contains a basement level nightclub, a bistro bar, dining area, an 140 seat function area and 46 bedrooms on the upper floor.
The news that the property has been purchased has been welcomed by Cllr Denis Leonard, who says that a thriving hotel is vital to the economic prosperity of Kinnegad.
