Dessie Dolan: Westmeath Gaels are eager to see him return to the maroon jersey

Door is wide open for Dolan return, Flanagan says

The door is wide open for Dessie Dolan to return to the Westmeath senior football fold, but nothing less than "100 per cent" commitment will suffice from any player looking to make the starting fifteen, according to Lake County manager, Pat Flanagan. The Clara native, who was given the green light to continue his tenure as manager on Wednesday night, told the Westmeath Examiner today (Friday) that he would love to see the veteran Garrycastle forward return to the inter-county scene."He's an absolutely superb player and has been over the past number of years," the Clara native told Gerry Buckley."But, like every other player, if he comes back he has to come back and give it 100 per cent."We're at a stage now where there are a number of players out there who want to give it 100 per cent, and this year we need to ensure that everybody is singing off the one sheet."As well as Dolan, Flanagan hopes that 2013 will see talented St Loman's forward Conor Lynam throw on the maroon jersey again."He is another superb player, and hopefully when he comes back from America we can sit down and talk and see where he's at for the coming year."Former Tyrrellspass supremo Flanagan had his reign as Westmeath boss extended by at least a year this week, after going before an interview committee to keep his job."Different counties have different procedures as far as the interviewing process is concerned, and obviously Westmeath had to follow their procedure," he said, when asked for his views on the events of the past week."While some people think it could have been done much quicker, that's the way they decided to do it, and so we just had to respect that decision."Read our in-depth interview with Pat Flanagan in next Wednesday's Westmeath Examiner.
