My Name is TED a finalist at Fashion Innovations Awards

Mullingar accessory designer, My Name is TED, by Kasia and Brendan McEvoy, is one of 20 designer finalists at the Irish Fashion Innovations Awards on March 26 at the Galmont Hotel and Spa in Galway.
The event recognising the most talented designers in millinery, accessories, jewellery and fashion, and gives a platform to student designers from fashion colleges from across Ireland.
Pushing the boundaries of innovation and bringing a more mindful and sustainable approach to fashion, 20 Irish designers in five categories and 24 student designers from eight colleges will compete to become Designer of the Year 2020.
Winners from each category will be selected by a panel of prestigious judges and announced at the end of the ceremony.
My Name is TED is in the category Accessories Designer Of The Year along with Sarah Swan, Dublin; and Landa Bags.
Kasia and Brendan McEvoy are founders of Mullingar-based brand My Name is TED. The story of TED Carbery (Brendan’s grandfather) using his mouth and left hand in the 1950s to make leather bags and accessories inspired the husband and wife team to bring the family tradition back to life.
The values incorporated into the ‘Door Bag Collection’ are 3F’s: the purpose of the main Feature (The Door) is to Function (Open and Close) and to give a Feeling (of security behind your door or a time and place special to you). The ‘Door Bag Collection’ is ethically produced in Italy by third-generation artisans who work with brands such as Dolce & Gabbana.
