Brian to sleep out for Simon

As the autumn weather hits the midlands, a Mullingar man begins his annual Sleep Out for Simon in the town. Brian Fagan will sleep out in a hut in the town square from Wednesday October 23 until Friday October 25 in aid of Midlands Simon Community.

Brian and his colleagues will go without food for 48 hours, experiencing the harshest reality of homelessness in a week that is predicted to move away from the Indian summer of late to traditional Irish weather.

Tony O’Riordan, CEO of Midlands Simon Community said: “We are delighted that Brian has chosen to highlight the issue of homelessness in Mullingar and the midlands as a whole. Homelessness may be less visible in rural towns and areas, but it is a daily challenge for hundreds of people across Westmeath, Laois, Longford and Offaly.

Midlands Simon Community is currently working with over 100 people each day. A Sleep Out for Simon mightn’t be for everyone but it is through the generosity of the public like this that we can continue to help people in need every day, helping them move out of homelessness and into a home of their own and support to maintain it.”
