Exhibition of drawings by architect Martin Reynolds

Historian Ruth Illingworth officially opened an exhibition of drawings by architect Martin Reynolds in the Market House, Mullingar last week (Thursday May 3).

The drawings on exhibit are of buildings from a variety of locations including Dublin, Malaga, Madrid, Pamplona, Poland, Birmingham and Malaysia.

With his artwork, Reynolds is primarily interested in buildings that stand by themselves. 

When it comes to Spanish architecture he sees an overall pattern, a combination of what is best from the past, side by side with new buildings.

Mr Reynolds (81) has also been exhibited in Dublin and Poland, a country that he has a long association with due to his membership of the Ireland Poland Society.

A native of Dublin, Mr Reynolds qualified as an architect at the College of Technology, Bolton Street, where he subsequently lectured for many years.

He has been involved with a number of building projects in the midlands, including the extension and restoration of the 200-year-old Boland’s Lock, on the 26th lock of the Grand Canal just outside Tullamore.
