Proposal an address of welcome be presented by Westmeath County Council to the performing group Macalla na hÉireann

A proposal that an address of welcome be presented by Westmeath County Council to the performing group Macalla na hÉireann was made at the most recent Mullingar Municipal District Committee (MMDC) meeting by Cllr Ken Glynn.
 
 The group is to perform at Áras an Mhuilinn on Monday October 8.
 
 “Macalla na hÉireann is a Comhaltas concert tour of Ireland and it is the first time they are performing in Áras an Mhuilinn,” Cllr Glynn told colleagues, adding that their performance would be a very special event, and a great boost for the area, especially given the attempt locally to win the right to host the national fleadh.
 
 Support for Cllr Glynn’s proposal came from Cllr Johnny Penrose who remarked that the performers were a very talented group of people.
 
 The proposal has been referred to the Council’s Corporate Policy Group for consideration.
