Mullingar filmmakers latest film to be shown at IMC this Friday
A feature film by a young Mullingar filmmaker is to have its preview screening at Mullingar’s IMC cinema, this Friday, November 20 at 7pm.
“Monged”, produced by Craig Moore, stars John Connors, Graham Earley and Rex Ryan, in the story of three mismatched friends on a weekend binge in Dublin.
The film takes an energetic, drug fuelled ride through Dublin's nightspots as we follow Dave, an aspiring drug dealer; Ray, a failing club DJ; and socially awkward Bernard, the unwitting guinea pig for Dave’s latest pill consignment. Against a backdrop of narcotics and throbbing beats, the lads’ personal lives are complicated by sexual confusion, demanding partners, nagging parents and gangster death threats.
Based on the award-winning play by Gary Duggan, with a script by Duggan and Barry Dignam, Monged avoids the usual clichés of drug-ridden narratives to present a film which is at times warm and funny and ultimately about friendship.
The film has already screening at the Galway Film Fleadh and in the Irish Film Institute, as well as having slots at Kerry and Cork Film Festivals on October 23 and the November 13 respectively. It has also been submitted to several festivals in the United States.
Admission for the screening is €7 and can be paid at the door - meaning the event is operating on a strictly first come first served basis.
