Over 70s advised to stay at home as much as they can

Restaurants and bars may be re-opening today but cocooners have been advised to avoid large crowds and stay at home as much as they can.

Under phase 3 of the roadmap for easing restrictions people are now able to travel anywhere within Ireland and businesses such as creches, hairdressers, driving schools, restaurants and bars can reopen if they adhere to public health guidelines. Indoor gatherings of 50 people and outdoor gatherings of up to 200 are also now permitted.

Health officials have urged people over 70 and those with underlying medical conditions to remain vigilant. They have been advised to continue to use the specially allotted times for shopping and to use face coverings while in busy public areas.
