Gardaí investigating alleged assault

Gardaí in Mullingar are investigating an alleged assault at a house at Patrick Street believed to have happened in the early hours of the morning.

One person is understood to have sustained injuries in the incident.

The scene was preserved for some hours, and a scenes of crime unit was called to examine the scene.

Gardaí are not giving any further details at this stage, but say the matter is under investigation.
