Mullingar Hospital: visiting restrictions remain in place until tomorrow

Visiting restrictions at Mullingar Hospital remain in place until tomorrow, Saturday, in light of overcrowding.

In a statement released by the Ireland East Hospital Group today, it said:

“The level of attendances at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar has now returned to normal for this time of year. Visiting restrictions are in place until Saturday morning.”

The Midland Regional Hospital had to implement restrictions on both admissions and visitors to facility on Tuesday when overcrowding there was described as "exceptional".

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Assoication, INMO, recorded a figure of 29 patients on trolleys on Tuesday of this week, the third highest number in the country outside of Dublin.
