Success for Fagan at Great Northern Run

Irish Olympian and Mullingar Harrier Martin Fagan will be looking forward to the European Cross Country Championships which will be held in Brussels in December with increased confidence after his success at last Sunday"s (October 5) Great Northern Run.Martin came sixth in the internationally renowned half marathon completing the 13.1 miles in 1 hour two minutes and twenty seconds placing him two and a half minutes behind the winner, Ethopian Tsegay Kebede, who took the bronze medal in the marathon in Bejing this summer.Over the last five years the Great Northern Run has attracted top athletes from around the world and this year"s race was no exception.Martin came seventh in last year"s European Cross Country Championships and will now be hoping to better that performance after his success in Sunday"s run.Martin is currently continuing his training at his base in Flagstaff Arizona after winning an athletics scholarship to study in the States.
