Labour Party conference to boost Mullingar business
The announcement that the Labour Party conference will be held at the Town Park Hotel in Mullingar next October is a welcome 'good news' story for the town, Willie Penrose TD said this morning.Mr Penrose who together with Councillor Mick Dollard, has championed the Labour Party cause in Westmeath for the last two decades said that holding the annual party conference in Mullingar was a reward for all the hard work put in by Labour party politicians and their constituents.In his second visit to the county party leader and Energy Minister Eamon Gilmore will be in Mullingar this Thursday to announce the finer details of the three day conference.It is expected that the gathering which will run from March 27 to 29 will attract more than 1,500 people to the town giving a welcome boost to local business.'This is a nod that Mullingar is on the map,' said Deputy Penrose. 'Westmeath has always worked hard for the Labour Party and that is reflected in the fact that we will be holding the first major party political conference here.'I am very proud of everything that Mullingar has to offer and we will be doing our utmost to make sure that all of our businesses and leisure facilities are given maximum exposure over the three days.'Mullingar is centrally located, it has excellent hotels, it has a good rail link to the capital and we also have attractions like Belvedere on our door step.'Over the three days we will be making sure that all of our facilities will be shown off so that those attending the conference can take back the news about what a great place Mullingar and Westmeath is.'
