Enter our Short Story Competition
The Delvin Garradrimna Book Fair is on Sunday May 1 this year, and the organising team are once again hosting a short story writing competition, in association with the Westmeath Examiner.
They are busy collecting books and say they are confident they will achieve their target of around 30,000. Anyone who wishes to donate books or wants to contribute in any way to the event should contact Michael Murphy on murph20@eircom.net or Paul Carolan on paulgcarolan@yahoo.ie.
Readers and event activities will be announced closer to the date. Last week Michael and Paul announced the launch of their short story competition in association with the Westmeath Examiner and Celtic Media Group.
How to Enter:
There two categories – senior and junior – and stories must be between 1,500 and 2,000 words, beginning with the line:
‘The street remained vacant…’
To enter your short story, email it to digital@celticmediagroup.com with the subject line "2016 Short Story Comp" or post it to Short Story Competition, Westmeath Examiner, Blackhall Place, Mullingar, County Westmeath.
The closing date is Tuesday March 29.
Winning entries will be published in the Westmeath Examiner on Tuesday April 26. There will be first and second prizes for both categories, which will be presented at the Book Fair in Delvin on Sunday May 1 and the winning entries will be read at the fair by celebrity readers (to be announced at a later date).
