All Systems Go
Two glorious and colourful weekends in sport and cultural activities await thousands of children, parents and officials.They will be gathering from the four corners of the county at the A.I.T. College in Athlone, starting this weekend, 14th/16th August and continuing on the following weekend of 21st/24th when the HSE Community Games All-Ireland Finals comes to town. Westmeath will have over two hundred competitors and officials taking part in the finals and we know that with the co-operation and assistance of everyone that those two weekends will be enjoyable and memorable for all taking part. Our best wished go out to all concerned for a very successful National Finals and especially to our own county competitors and officials. The following is the time-table of events for both weekends. Check with your Area Secretary who will have more details including copy of A.I.T. map1st Weekend 14th/16thFriday, 6p.m. - Assemble for Opening Ceremonies and parade. (We expect Areas from around Athlone to each bring along a number of children for parade. Tracksuits tops will be issued at assemble point).Saturday 15th - Boys Swimming warm-up will commence at 8.30 a.m. for the Under-8 and Under-10 only. (Timetable issued to Area Secretary). 11.15 warm-ups for Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16.9 a.m. - Gymnastics for boys and girl's under-8 and under-10 in Multi Purpose Hall. Hardcourt Tennis in Athlone Town GAA Centre. Pitch & Putt for boys first six counties in Bealnamulla.9.30 a.m. - Volleyball in Bower College. Olympic Handball for girls in Marist College. GAA Under-10 in AIT GAA Pitch. Girls Under-15 Soccer in All weather pitch, AIT. Boys Under-12 Soccer at inner Athletic Track.10 a.m. - Grass Cycling boys and girls under-12 and under-14 semi-finals in Willow Park.11 a.m. - Gymnastics boys and girls under-12.
