Pipe repairs may cause disruption to water supply in Mullingar this afternoon
Households on the Longford Road in Mullingar and surrounding areas may be without water this afternoon while Irish Water and Westmeath County Council repair a burst water pipe.
In a statement released this morning, Irish Water said:
The mains repair works are scheduled to take place from 12pm until 4pm today, in accordance with the current Level 5 COVID-19 restrictions, and may cause disruption to the water supply for customers on the Old Longford Road, Mullingar and surrounding areas in Westmeath.
It is recommended that customers allow 2-3 hours after the estimated restoration time for supply to fully return. Irish Water and Westmeath County Council regret any inconvenience caused to impacted customers.
John Gavin, Operations Lead with Irish Water, said: “Irish Water and Westmeath County Council understand the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to repair the burst and restore normal supply to impacted customers. We are encouraging customers to conserve water for essential purposes while repairs are underway. There are ways to conserve water that will not impact on hygiene or handwashing. Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply such as not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.”
