Pride and Glory best on Thursday night

Thursday night's racing at Mullingar Greyhound Stadium included two semi-finals of the Mullingar G.O.B.A. Buster Draw Sweepstake over the 525 yards trip.Michael Murray's (Jersey) Pride and Glory chalked up her second win success with a smashing display in the first semi-final race eight. A win looked in prospect for Ardera Jet as he turned for home with a substantial advantage, but Pride and Glory had other ideas as she forced ahead close home to win by two lengths in 29.82. The winner is trained by Francis Murray.The second semi-final produced a smart showing by Patsy's Star which is owned by Miss Nicola Murray (Kells) and trained by David McKenna completely dominated the pace from a lively exit from traps to score by five lengths from Randy Bill in 30.08.The meeting opened with the usual Novice 525 where Slaneyside Ruben owned in partnership by Eddie Hackett and James Kane (Longford) produced the goods after recovering from crowding to win by a length and three quarters from Babba Yagga in 30.85.Racing for the first time Shan Van Voct which runs in the ownership of Miss Sara M. Mangan (Croom) and trained by Timothy McAuliffe made all to take the second race on the card by two and three quarter lengths from Ballyfore Cross in 30.98.The well supported Foxhill Beauty landed the third for her Westmeath owner Damien McHugh. But only by one length from fast finishing Caesar Sensation in 22.66.Gegetemlady opened up a big lead over the field in the fourth and this advantage appeared adequate. But a powerful late surge by Joe Rigney Jnr (Cork) Ravakeel Sorcha denied her victory as she shot clear on the line to win by a quarter of a length in 30.01.Mammy's Angel owned by Ann Brennan (Meath) had a very easy win in the fifth where she powered home to win by six lengths from Mary Mac in 22.22.Joe Campbell's (Laois) Home Joy had an overdue win in the sixth when she raced up front throughout to score by four and three quarter lengths from Body Warmer in 29.99.The seventh race resulted in a close encounter as Frank Seery Tenacious Lenny held on in a neck victory from Black Badger in 22.21.The Brennan Prizeman's (Dublin) owned and the Tommy Bolton trained Ballymorefin Lil although now passed her third birthday produced an evergreen performance to take the tenth race which was decided over the 525 yard course when she powered home five lengths to the good from Bu Man Blue in 29.82.Lingrawn Ruby looked like claiming the final race of the night when well in command at the final bend, but he failed to withstand a spirited late rally by David Sheridan's (Moate) owned Sherco One which forced up in the dying strides to snatch head photo verdict in 34.43.Rockabilly#is magicThe Mullingar Dragons Basketball Committee's Benefit Race Night as a means of raising funds was well rewarded by a good turnout at Mullingar Track on Saturday evening last, November 20th.Smashing Ted which is owned in partnership by Ray Muldowney and Thomas Dooley (Dublin) and trained by Joseph Muldowney always had the edge over the field in the opening race over the 525 yards course and although pressed on the run to the line by Riccardo Classic, he stuck to his task to land the race by three and a half lengths in 30.44.Miss Patricia O'Shaugh-nessy's (Westmeath) Fern Bubbles came into trap five from the reserve panel in the second over the 525 yards course where she made every yard of the running to win impressively by eight and a half lengths from You Pay Forit in 30.26.Longford trained Eddie Dunne recorded the first leg of a double when his representative All About Trap owned by William Rigney (Roscrea) led all the way to win the third race by a length and three quarters in 22.18.All About Doom completed the double for the Dunne Kennel when leading throughout to score by a length and three quarter from Jay Jays Hawk in 29.73. The winner is owned by Brian Flynn.Laois owner Thomas Gonoud landed a popular double at the meeting when his Doonalley Mary and Doonalley June won the ninth and eleventh race.Upinthebed opened up a substantial lead over the field in the ninth, but he failed to withstand a smashing late rally by Doonalley Mary who came late on the scene to earn a short head photo verdict in 29.94.Doonalley June which was even money at the close of betting in the eleventh over the 550 yards course produced a trap-to-line display to score by three and a quarter lengths from Bornacurra Razl in a fast 30.98 return.Seta which is trained by Michael Connaughton for the Clondoc Syndicate (Templeogue) led all the way to win the fourth by three lengths from Glentara Leigh in 30.05.The David McKenna trained and the Miss Sharon McKenna (Kells) owned Kind Star emerged best from first bend crowding in the fifth to win by a comfortable eleven and a half lengths from the odds on Ardera Mia in 30.25.Sean Mullen's (Westmeath) Bawnfune Napoli was a 7/2 chance in the sixth and although she was led to the top bend by Black Fireball she progressed on the home straight to land her fifth race win success by a length and a half in 29.90.Sasquash provided the Bolton Kennel with the first leg of a winning double when he hung on to win the seventh over the 400 yards trip by a neck from the fast finishing Bective Digger in 21.95.
