Club News: Speaking at the presentation of Turkey vouchers last Sunday week, Club Captain, Padraig Keenan, thanked all of the Committee members who had helped throughout the year with the smooth running of the weekend competitions.He urged members to take an active interest in the upcoming AGMs (January 2009 - more later), and to consider letting their names go forward for committee in the new year.He congratulated the Turkey winners, which included this weeks competition: Cat 1 M. McLoughlin (5) - 31 points; Bert Burke (3) - 30 points; Cat 2 Gerry Campion (11) - 37 points; Maurice Stenson - 31 points Cat 3 Pat Doolan (20) - 33 points; Davy Lambe (21) - 31 points. In conclusion, he wished all of the members and friends of the club Season"s Greetings.Winter LeagueThe Winter League is continuing and the number of rounds played is slowly picking up. Only one player has completed his rounds, but several of the better organised teams are showing well, even at this early stage. Players are reminded that there is a prize for the overall highest scorer this year.Ladies ClubThe final presentation of prizes for the ladies club took place on Sunday, December 21. They included the turkey competition vouchers which were presented to the following: Eileen Fagan, Sinead Healy, Beth Dunne, Mary Egan, Eileen White, Veronica McCormack, Vera Burgoyne, Pauline Farrell, Anna O"Brien, Pearse Corbett, Amy Farrell, Carmel Scally and Veronica Colgan.Before presenting the prizes the Lady Captain, Mary Kerrigan, as it was her last official function, thanked the sponsors and the ladies and management committees for all their help during the year, She wished the incoming Lady Captain and the incoming Lady Vice Captain all the best for the next year. She wished all members of the club a very happy Christmas. The Club raffle was also held. The first prize of a lovely hamper was won by Lena Mullholland, Clara, and the second prize hamper was won by Michelle Kenny, Clara. The other prizes were won by Pearse Corbett, Catriona Kenny, Brian Tansey, Noel Quirke and Lena Mulholland and Tommy O Brien.Weekly competitionFrom January 1, 2009 a weekly competition will commence which may be played between Thursday and Wednesday up until March. Draw times on Wednesday will remain the same as usual.
