St. Patrick's Day Parade Theme announced for 2011
Science and Innovation have been chosen as this year's St Patrick's Day Parade theme. It was chosen by the committee as they feel it represents the solution to the current economic solution and it is the area on which young people will be focusing.âOur youth are our future and science and innovation is the way forward. Science as a theme will give groups a focus for their floats and innovation has a much wider scope and should really spark people's imagination,â says Noel O'Callaghan, RSM and spokesperson for the Parade Committee. The Committee has made the decision to send the Parade through the town at the later time of 4pm although the day's festivities should start at around 3pm.âWe hope to have a real carnival atmosphere in the town with something going on in the streets from about 3pm and the parade starting its descent into the town from the Green Bridge at four.âWe also hope to link schools and groups up with local businesses this year to help build and design floats,â says Noel.âThe Mullingar St Patrick's Day Parade brings fun, entertainment, music, clowns, marching bands, musical bands and a festival atmosphere onto the streets of Mullingar on the 17th March and is the largest parade in Leinster outside of Dublin,â says Noel.SEE Jan 15 edition FOR MORE
