'Elfman Aine' a movie-mad helper on Christmas FM

Mullingar woman Aine O’Neill has volunteered to present on Christmas FM in aid of Barnardos aiming to raise €250,000 for their mission of working to give vulnerable children living in disadvantaged communities a better chance – ‘because childhood lasts a lifetime’.

Aine says she is “a movie-mad Christmas helper here on Christmas FM!”.

“I have an abundance of Christmas movie facts stored in my brain such as – did you know that most movie snow scenes are created from potato flakes? Yummy! When I’m not obsessing about movie facts and trivia, I dedicate my time to music; writing music, teaching music, and producing music.”

Christmas FM is in its 14th year on air now and, since it began broadcasting, has raised some €2.7 million for a range of charitie, made possible through the work done by the volunteers.

Asked about her role at the radio station, Aine said: “Christmas FM is an amazing organisation that launches Christmas throughout the country, and it raises funds for worthwhile charity partners, I’m lucky to be involved in the crazy and fun community.

“Christmas movie soundtracks find their way to the top of my playlist, especially the John Williams score for ‘Home Alone’ and Danny Elfmans music for ‘Nightmare before Christmas’.”

Aine’s favourite Christmas food is Baileys, and her favourite Christmas movie is Home Alone.

Her favourite Christmas tradition is: “A relatively new tradition but I’m loving the Christmas morning swim at the 40ft. This tradition started the same year I started in Christmas FM (2016)

Aine says: I’m a Mullingar girl, who has travelled as much as possible, as I have a constant itch in my feet to see the world, currently resting these itchy feet in Dublin, and my Elf Name is Elfman Aine.”
