Students" winter concert at Arts Centre
There is nothing like a good concert to liven up the dark dreary nights of a recession winter. On Monday, 26th January, the students of the Community College will stage a Winter Concert at Mullingar Arts Centre at 8pm.This promises to be a lively night"s entertainment when students will take to the stage to display their talents in drama, music, songs and dance.Tickets for the concert are reasonably priced at €10 and are available from the Community College or if you"re lucky you can get a ticket at the Arts Centre on the night.Open EveningThe Community College has a reputation for innovative Open Evenings but the large attendance at the College on Thursday last was treated to the most exciting Open Evening to date.Every room in the college was used to show case both academic and practical aspects of the Department of Education and Science curriculum both at junior and senior level.Parents were impressed at what is on offer in the college and were vocal in their praise of the facilities and at the variety of methodologies demonstrated.One particular attraction for intending first years was the astro turf pitch which was floodlit and in full use on the night.The official opening of the pitch is due to take place in February when a surprise high profile personality will cut the tape.Attendance at the Open Evening was up on previous years with a significant increase in the number of families seeking places in first year for their child.Attendance at the Open Evening was up on previous years with a significant increase in the number of families seeking places in first year for their child.
