A celebration of Irish song and music in St Fechin's Church, Fore
The wonderful choir of St Fechin’s Church, Fore will celebrate an evening of Irish song and music on Wednesday March 16.
Starting at 8pm, the night will be one of remembrance and reflection, with a selection of Irish pieces chosen by the choir. Donations on the night will go towards the Unicef Covid 19 Vaccine Appeal “Get a Vaccine, Give a Vaccine,” which is bringing 3 billion vaccines to the world's poorest and most vulnerable people.
This is likely to be a lovely, lively and popular event.
“The choir is known across the locality for their beautiful Christmas Concert and it is great to have the opportunity to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, our faith and our community, “ said Lorraine Ledwith, choir director, “and it is also part of the wider Parish Lent Commemoration and reflection throughout this week. As a parish community we are taking the time to reflect on the last two years of the pandemic and acknowledge our grief and move forward with hope. “
The parish has set aside four days of ceremonies dedicated to different saints in the run up to St Patrick’s Day.
“The parish is acknowledging how challenging the last few years have been, the people we have lost, the missed celebrations and gatherings, and the difficult work that many undertook to help us get through it, “ said Lorraine.
On Monday March 14, the Mass at St Mary’s Church, Collinstown (7.30pm) will be dedicated to St Camilus and St Dymphna with a focus on those who cared for the sick and dying.
“At this Mass we will pray in thanksgiving for all who worked in the hospitals and all who worked with the vulnerable in the community. There will also be a blessing of hands, a reminder that we are all called to be of practical help to one another,” explains the Parish Newsletter.
On Tuesday 15 March, the two parish schools will be invited to their own special Mass where the children will be given an opportunity to share what they found challenging about the last two years and to share their hopes and dreams for the future. That evening the Mass will consider Saints Loman and St Jude in St Feichin’s Church (7.30pm) and there will be a special focus on grief and loss.
