Alzheimer’s Tea Day, Walshestown Community Centre
The Westmeath branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland hosted an Alzheimer’s Tea Day at Walshestown Community Centre yesterday, May 5. Orlaith Leonard, care co-ordinator, Westmeath services for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, explained to the Westmeath Examiner what was happening: “It’s May 5 and we’re having a tea day, to gather people to chat, have the cup of tea, and raise funds for the vital services we provide.
“We really appreciate all the support from the sponsors in Westmeath and we offer thanks to everybody who joined us today, and special thanks to Maeve Clifford, who has been the force behind the tea day, and also a big thank-you to all the local businesses and everybody else who sponsored the event and made donations.”
Orlaith said her organisation provide services and supports for families and people affected by dementia. “In Westmeath we deliver home care services, day care at home, we also deliver family care training and support, online support for families, and we have dementia adviosrs in the area who support families through the dementia journey.”
