Falcon wins innovation award at ploughing
A piece of farm equipment which was the brainchild of a group of seven farmers from Westmeath has won the overall innovation award at the National Ploughing Championships.
The Falcon Forwarder – which was specifically designed for use in Irish forestry plantations – was up against 79 other inventions, and was in July graded up to the 30-strong shortlist for the 2014 finals.
The Falcon was also winner of the Agri-Engineering award in the Startup Company category. Minister Richard Bruton, TD, announced the Enterprise Ireland Toplink.ie Innovation Arena award winners on the opening day of the Ploughing.
