Rescheduled date for Cronin Unplugged

The rescheduled date for Cronin Unplugged has been confirmed for Friday next, June 17.

It had been due to take place on May 20 at The Greville Arms Hotel in Mullingar, and now fans will be pleased to hear it’s back on.

The Mullingar based indie band are promising an intimate acoustic gig with music legend Steve Wickham (The Waterboys) on violin and Anna Houston (No Crows) on cello.

The night will be an acoustic reworking delving into both the Cronin and The Aftermath back catalogue, and it will be recorded and filmed for a future release.

Steve Wickham is known and highly acclaimed for work with The Waterboys – he was also a founding member of In Tua Nua and played violin on the U2 classic ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’, as well as on recordings by Elvis Costello, the Hothouse Flowers, Sinéad O’Connor, and World Party.

He plays rock ‘n’ roll and traditional Irish music, and has developed a rock music technique for violin he calls the “fuzz fiddle”.

Anna Houston has composed and recorded the soundtrack for various shows, and has performed with acts including Wickham’s Waterboys band-mate Mike Scott, Dervish, and Sligo Baroque Ensemble.

She also teaches the cello and banjo at Sligo Academy of Music and holds music workshops for kids.

Anna has been playing cello and mandolin in Sligo band No Crows since 2005.

This show is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Westmeath County Council.

Doors open at 8pm, show 8.30pm, tickets from Eventbrite.ie.
