Daffodil Day is just around the corner
The Irish Cancer Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and Friday March 22 is Daffodil Day, when the bright yellow flowers, synonymous with spring, serve as a sign of renewal for cancer patients and survivors.
The Mullingar Daffodil Day committee is ensuring all 12 collection points around town will be staffed from early morning till late. Last year, €17,470 was collected between Mullingar and Castlepollard.
The funds raised on Daffodil Day help provide free cancer information and nursing, as well as a free home-based night nursing service to seriously ill cancer patients in the area.
Volunteers will be out in force on Friday March 22.
