Bins for Gleann Pettit and Lakepoint
Litter bins at the entrances to Lakepoint and Gleann Pettit housing estates in Mullingar have been requested by Cllr Aoife Davitt.
Speaking at the December meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad, she said there is a huge amount of pedestrian footfall in those areas and rubbish is being discarded. She also wanted more bins along the canal.
David Jones, director of services, said that the Litter Management Plan is due for review in 2024, but will be discussed in the 12 months leading up to that. The location and relocation of bins will be considered.
The council encourage people to "leave no trace" and to take their rubbish home.
At the same meeting, Cllr Davitt asked that signs displaying car parking codes be placed in all car parks and that briars between Marlinstown and the IDA park be cut. She was assured that the briars had been cut and that the signs as requested would be considered.
