The annual cost of installation, insurance and power is now very high. The group held a collection at Supervalu last week and want to thank all who contributed generously. The group is also grateful to Westmeath County Council who part grant aid the lights each year. It was disappointing that when the County Council put the new street lighting on the Main Street in summer of this year it was not with the brackets requested which would have allowed for hanging baskets in summer and the heavy Christmas lighting to be hung between the lamp posts. The Community Council is hopeful though that as the business base grows, financing the lights will become less of a burden. This year they purchased some new lighter lights which lend better to the trees at the front of the church. The parish has also erected a lovely crib in the town square area outside the church.Kinnegad Community Childcare PlaygroupKinnegad Community Childcare has a small number of places in their playgroup from January 2009. If you can only attend an occasional meeting or get involved with one of the sub groups you would be most welcome. The current sub groups are; Tidy Towns, Recreational facilities, Tourism initiatives, and Killucan Station Development Group.
