Westmeath county manager departs next month
The outgoing Westmeath county manager Danny McLoughlin is to attend his last meeting at the helm of the council next Monday (April 29).
The Roscommon native is expected to discuss his seven years of work as the top council official in Westmeath when he addresses councillors at the meeting.
He will take up his new post as county manager at South Dublin County Council on June 4, but his role in the Lake County is likely to finish a few weeks before then.
Earlier this month, his appointment in the capital was formally ratified by the members of South Dublin County Council. Its deputy mayor, Cllr Guss O’Connell, said yesterday (Tuesday) that the members “were delighted to make the appointment as I understand he comes with a very good pedigree”.
News of Mr McLoughlin’s departure first emerged in mid-March. He has been based in Westmeath since 2006, and worked for a spell as Leitrim county manager before then.
