Capt Paddy and Lucky's recent adventures for LaurLynn and Dogs Trust
The past month Capt Paddy and Lucky have been continuing their adventures and have been extremely busy and fundraising on behalf of the LuaraLynn Children's Hospice and Dogs Trust Ireland.
They completed a 30 minute Aerobatic Flight near Cork with Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) from Cork Airport. They received a warm welcome when they arrived from the team at AFTA and went through their flight details with Gerry Humphreys, our pilot for the day. It was at this point it dawned on us that our flight was actually a 25-minute aerobatic flight in AFTA’s Slingsby T67 Firefly registered G-BWXV.
The pair then strapped in and after take-off, Gerry put them through their paces with loops, stall turns and barrel rolls, which they found very thrilling and exciting. Once back on the ground and gathered their thoughts, Capt Paddy and Lucky had their logbooks completed.
It was then onto Shannon Airport where they flew with Aer Lingus to Boston, USA, on their first transatlantic flight. They returned to Shannon a few days later and rotated to Dublin airport before heading on to London Heathrow Airport. It was from here that Capt Paddy and Lucky travelled to Perth, Australia with Qantas and enjoyed a few days in the beautiful city.
Once they returned from Australia they headed to Simtech Aviation in Dublin to attend the FlyFearless course. They both learnt so much about people's fear of flying and how to overcome these challenges. If you or someone you know has a fear of flying do check out their website www.flyfearless.ie the team would be happy to help.
Capt Paddy, Lucky and Jason were asked to co-host an hour show on Dublin South FM to chat and choose some tracks. They were invited by The Marlon Show and it was a great experience to discuss the challenge, the charities and the future plans.
Since March 1 Capt Paddy and Lucky have been with the Irish Air Corps. They have been navigating themselves around the daily activities during their recruitment process.
Activities so far include an exhausting day at the fitness work out centre, having a nose around the workshop, tour of Casement Aerodrome, discussion on the duties of the Crash Rescue Service, and a meet and greet with Rexy the Harris Hawk from the Bird Control Unit, as well as fixing and maintaining trucks, cars and other airfield machinery in their transport Squadron.
They continue to work towards their first flight with the Air Corps. If you would like to donate to their adventures you can do by clicking the links below
