Westmeath ICA Federation

Notes

Members of the Westmeath ICA Federation did a walk for the ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World, a charity the ICA are affiliated with) on the Old Rail trail Greenway at Streamstown, and Catherine, ACWW representative, was delighted with the donations.

She gave a short talk on the organisation, which exists to amplify the rights of women and the funding of projects to help the needs of women in impoverished regions and countries.

Thank you to Jack’s Stop, who provided refreshments afterwards.

Mullingar Guild hosted the Westmeath ICA Federation meeting at Áras and Mhuilinn on 27 June. There were four Guilds in attendance.

Congratulations were extended to Rosaleen as the Westmeath Federation president on her brilliant opening and welcoming speech at the National AGM, in the Athlone Springs Hotel. She gave a good insight to the areas of our seven guilds.

The ‘free childcare’ project is ongoing and will remain an ICA campaign.

Members were encouraged to attend agricultural shows and to enter the competitions for cookery and crafts.

The winners of the Brown Bread Competition were: first Liz Brady and second Catherine Leavy (below). Both will progress to the next heat of the competition at An Grianán in August.
