Petal Cafe closes doors for final time
Petal Cafe, located at the former Cooney’s Newsagents premises in Castlepollard, closed its doors for the final time at 5pm on Saturday, August 19.
Proprietor Elaine Guinan was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation by staff members, a gesture which spoke also for the esteem in which Elaine and her staff, as well as their cafe, were held by the residents of the Castlepollard, Collinstown, Coole, Finea and Drumcree areas.
Previous to the closure, Elaine had posted a heartfelt note on social media.
She said that she and her team had made every effort to reduce outgoings, but a continuous drop in trade, especially in June and July, meant the business was no longer viable.
She praised her team and family for their understanding and support, and thanked her customers; “thank you for calling in, thank you for the laughs, thank you for all your support, thank you for always checking in on us and the families, thank you to all the local businesses for your support and orders, thank you to all the schools”.
She singled out David Murphy and Aoife, her mother and father, brothers and sisters and her auntie Fiona for special thanks
