The Heathers and Adela Meally play the Stables

Dublin duo the Heathers, along with Laois woman Adela Meally will play the Stables, Mullingar on Thursday, August 21. Heathers are an acoustic duo from Dublin made up of sisters Ellie and Louise.They"re barely out of school and they"ve just returned from a month long tour of the USA with Ghost Mice, whom they share a label with (Plan-it-x records) in the States.Signed to Hide Away Records in Ireland, their debut album, 'Here, Not There', recorded in the Hive Studios, Kilcoole was released as a joint release between Hide Away Records (Ireland) and Plan-it-x Records (US) last May. It has received rave reviews from press and critics alike from both here and in the States, and has been described as an album by an act many years their senior.Also playing on the night is Adela Meally, who was recently nominated in the best female category at the balcony TV music awards. She"s had a video made for her song "Party for 3" by the Tisch School of Arts in New York city, as part of the Hot Press Video competition held annually. She hails from Co. Laois and has some majestically catchy tunes.The band consists of Adela on nylon string guitar and Dominic Chappell on bass guitar. The two met in music tech in Limerick, and after handing him a bass, Adela and Dom have been playing together ever since. The single/triple A-side includes Adela on guitars, Mandolin, Banjo, Accordion and Vocals, Dom on bass guitar, Telecaster guitar - Eamon Dunne, Acoustic guitar - Brian O"Reilly and Ross O"Meara on Drums.When Adela was growing up, she listened to the likes of Paddy Reilly, Johnny McEvoy and Foster and Allen. 'I"m not sure how much of this rubbed off on me, though I do play the accordion,' says Adela.
