Work is continuing this week ahead of the Westmeath Bachelor Festival at the weekend.

Mullingar gets ready to ‘bop in the big top’

Mullingar music lovers are getting ready to bop in the big top next weekend, when the Westmeath Bachelor Festival comes to the town.

The fun starts on Friday evening, September 8 with the ‘Biggest Bingo’ and the following night, the Biggest 90s Disco in the Westmeath Bachelor ‘Big Top Tent’ at Blackhall will have performers such as Mark McCabe, Dario G, 2 Unlimited and more.

Among the local acts are Good Man Sheila and Some One’s Sons.

The Biggest Bingo promises “crazy prizes, competitions, a pyro show, confetti, carpool karaoke and the Biggest Bingo Boogie Battle, then Some One’s Sons will be live on stage after the bingo. The fun starts early on Saturday when Ireland’s first match, vs Romania, in the Rugby World Cup will be shown on the big screen.

Later in the evening, the Biggest 90s Disco will have stars from that decade on stage, including: 2 Unlimited, Mark McCabe, Al Gibbs, Capella, Rozalla, Darren Rice, Urban Cookie Collective, Marky Tynan and Niall Dunne.

Then on Sunday, September 10 – for those who have the energy – there’s a family fun day with amusements, face painting and more.

Good Man Sheila.

That evening, Good Man Sheila will close the weekend with “very special guests” for a reunion concert on stage.

The rugby is from 2pm and entry to that is free. You will have to buy tickets for the Biggest 90s Disco, but for the match, the organisers promise drinks promos, giveaways and more.

Part of the car park in Blackhall is closed, and the road to the bottom of Gaol Hill will be closed from Friday afternoon to Sunday.
