Man dies in workplace accident in Mullingar

A man has died from injuries sustained in a workplace accident in Mullingar earlier today.

In a statement issued to the Westmeath Examiner, Gardaí said that the incident occurred at a garage in the town this morning.

“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal workplace incident at a garage in Mullingar, Co Westmeath, this morning, Wednesday October 4.

“A man aged in his 30s was pronounced deceased. His body has been removed from the scene. A post mortem will take place at a later time.

“The coroner has been notified. The HSA has been notified and will attend the scene to conduct an examination.”

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) issued this statement:

I can confirm a fatality of a man due to a fall from a height at a premises on the Old Dublin Road in Mullingar this morning. The HSA has launched an investigation and as such no further information is available."
